The area around the Finger Lakes in New York State, SW of Syracuse, has many waterfalls. We visited a few of them. They are essentially all "standalone" waterfalls unlike the Gorge at Watkins Glen.

 Taughannock Falls
North of Ithica, is a 66m (215 feet) straight drop.
Ten metres, 33 feet, taller than Niagara Falls but no where near the water volume.
The falls can be viewed from a lookout which is where we started but the sun was so strong with some remaining fog, it was difficult to see the falls.
So we headed down to a walk-in trail which fortunately was relatively flat.
There is a small waterfall at the start of the trail, with a few more smaller ones along the 30-45 minute trail.
The trail crosses a bridge and there you are at the bottom of the falls.
Shequaga Falls
is in the town of Montour Falls.
It is approximately 45 metres tall, or 150 feet.
A sketch of the falls done by Louis Philippe in 1820 hangs in the Louvre in Paris. Louis later became King of France.
Buttermilk Falls
Is one of several falls in Buttermilk Falls State Park in the city of Ithaca. They are 50 metres/165 feet tall. At the bottom of the falls is a swimming area.
Carpenter Falls
north of Moravia NY,  are 27 metres/90 feet tall. There is a new boardwalk to an overlook and a set of stairs to get down to level of the bottom of the falls.
