I went to check out ducks but ended up dealing with pigeons.
There was a large flock of ducks, and a few Canada geese, on the ice at Billings Bridge.
(and a bicycle tossed into the water - middle bottom of left picture)

The ducks were resting on the ice until I came down closer to them. Thinking I had food, they got up and started walking/flying towards me. But along came some pigeons to try to get in on the action too.

The pigeons quickly infiltrated the ducks.

Then I started noticing individual pigeons that were not like the others.

After leaving this location I went to another spot on the river (Strathcona Park) in hopes of finding one of the rare (for us) barrow's golden eye ducks.
I found a few goldeneyes, mainly common golden eyes, but there was one male barrow's.

But as I was working the ducks, a flock of pigeons found me...
Again I was drawn to the more uniquely coloured ones.
