For many years there has been a nesting platform at the St Lawrence Seaway lock at Iroquois, between Morrisburg and Prescott. Every year a pair of osprey nest on it. Whether it is same pair every year or not, I don't know.
The nest had been claimed again this year. We thought the eggs might have hatched and there would be flying back and forth bringing fish in for the family, but it seemed there were no chicks yet; mum was still quietly sitting on the nest. Dad was on the nest with her, when we arrived but he soon flew off and landed on a lock's overhead crane nearby

Nearby, a kingbird was out and about looking for flying insects. She rested on a dead shrub for a few minutes and then took off.
While this was going on, the Canadian freighter, Evans Spirit, built in 2007, was going through the lock on its way to Toledo, Ohio
