A three hour cruise on a triple decker boat takes you from Gananoque to Boldt Castle and return. Cottages/homes cover the mainland shoreline as well as virtually all the Islands. Some of the islands are tiny, some are very large. Some of the buildings on the islands/mainland are very large, some are tiny.
Along the way are many osprey nests and cormorants in the water and covering small islands./shoals
All sorts of pleasure boats ply the river, most are new fast boats, but the occasional old-timer will sail by
The Ivy Lea Bridge is quite impressive from below on the St Lawrence. Some of the homes are built VERY close to the bridge
The cottages/homes are big and small, in many cases cheek by jowl
Just before sailing past Boldt Castle there were three quite small islands with even smaller buildings
Boldt Castle's construction was abandoned in the early 1900's upon the death of the owner's wife. It is now owned by the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority which for many years has been working on finishing construction. Our cruise did not stop at the Castle, although there are cruises that stop there for 2 hours.
An elaborate boat house for the castle is on the mainland
In addition to the cruise we took in Mamma Mia at the Thousand Island Playhouse which has a unique setting on the shoreline
A Gananoque Art Gallery had three unique art works that used a wasp nest for material
As usual I spotted murals in Gananoque, Rockport and the Information Centre for the Thousand Islands National Park
