Aside from a few mallards, things seemed quite quiet at the storm water ponds at Nepean Park on Colonnade Road, but finally we spotted a single green heron. No great blues, no egrets, just one green heron.
It was sitting with a mallard by the eastern most dam. A few noisy overhead ducks  made it look skyward
It then went off on its own to try for some breakfast. It didn't catch anything while we were there, but it certainly exhibited its stealthiness in moving about
The ducks were just relaxing swimming about
One lone ring-billed gull was flying over the pond, I cropped the photo to get a closer look at the texture in the under wings
There still were a few red-winged blackbirds present. This particular bird's coat was in better shape than the one photographed last month and the call was more vibrant
A few flowers were still in bloom (Scroll over for ID)

Most of a young maple's leaves had fallen off revealing a hornets' nest at the top that was still active. Next years leave buds had already formed on the tree.
The fall colours this year are very subdued, but there was some colour in individual trees and vines. (Scroll over gor ID)

The cat tails in one area that had gone to seed were immense. The burrs on the burdock shrubs were ready to latch onto to passers by
There had been a heavy dew the night before, so the fallen leaves were covered with dew drops
