With the west trails being closed for reconstruction and the Ottawa River being high, presumably draining areas further north to leave room for spring run-off, it was quite quiet.
(A few of this photos are also in another PhotoStory this month)
The fall colours strengthened as the month moved on
The sumach trees and virginia creeper vines were showing their colours
A few ducks were still around including mallards, and wood ducks. (Also a few black ducks too)
Chickadees were making sure you knew they were around and would accept any handouts
Black squirrels would gladly accept any offerings too (not that we had any for them)
The buckthorn berries were in ample supply, not as heavy a crop as a year or so ago though.
The birds eat them, but get little nutrition.  However the birds do spread the seeds widely after going through their digestive systems.
They also leave a mess of purple droppings on cars parked in the "wrong" place.
A few alyssum plants were still blooming and the fungus was still looking fresh.
A ladybug was looking over a sumach leaf
A great blue heron was spotted trying to nap on a quick visit earlier in the month, another visit produced no herons of any types.
