A brief visit to Mud Lake on a cold (-11¯C, wind chill -25°C) breezy morning, the river level was up quite a bit, a few mallards were about. The robins were making it sound like spring, but the temperatures told you it wasn't.
The robins were generally staying still and fluffed up to deal with the cold breeze
From up on the ridge, in the distance, through the trees, a female merganser was fishing and a group of about 15-20 goldeneyes just arrived to try their hands (beaks) at catching fish or whatever they could find.
Several juncos were on the ground hunting for seeds
A grey squirrel was on top of a 6' stump "playing king of the castle"
While a red squirrel was checking the trails for dropped seeds
