On the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, opposite Mud Lake, there is an island on which many egrets, great blue herons, cormorants and ring-billed gulls nest.
Take the Lower Alymer Road (Blvd de Lucerne) and turn off at Chemin Vanier.
The pictures shown here were taken with an equivalent 600mm lens, with some tight cropping done  (as the birds are not as close as they are in Florida).
One egret nest held 4 young ones, although they were very well developed. I suspect they fledged a few days after we visited.
Some of the cormorant nests were quite close to the egrets, with great blue herons not far away either above another egret nest.
One small tree hosted one (maybe two?) heron nests.
The ring-billed gulls and their juveniles were on the rocks along the shore.
The air was thick at times with zebra caddisfly. Their antennas are very long.
