There are two ponds at DND Headquarters at Crystal Bay. The "upper" pond is home to a beaver, a few ducks. and other occasional visitors.. The "lower" pond apparently is more attractive to egrets and great blue herons.

The vegetation along the sides of the trails was the normal summer wildflowers. There were lots of thistles and the goldfinches were going after the seeds. Getting a picture was tricky!

There was one heron and one egret in residence when we visited.




Keep an eye out for tanks when you are there, looks like one tank took out the bus shelter😊
